Rob Tregaskes — Forged in the Army; proven across banking, startups and private equity

Rob brings the perspective of a founder, operator and investor to every technology decision. After leaving the British Army as a Captain in 2010, he worked at RBS Global Banking & Markets through significant operating model change, completed an MBA, built a startup that failed, then joined another as employee number three and helped scale it to sixty people. In 2020, he moved into private equity; first with portfolio companies, then at fund level. He saw first-hand how technology can both create and destroy enterprise value.

In 2025, Rob left Tenzing Private Equity to set up Patching: a consultancy that helps founders and business owners build companies worth buying. His work combines PE value creation and fund governance experience with hands-on technical delivery, helping clients put the right systems, security and AI foundations in place before they become blockers to growth, exit or investment.

A techie at heart, Rob loves tinkering, building and cutting through hype. He helps clients make pragmatic technology decisions that support the operating model, reduce risk and stand up to future due diligence. His military background and technical mindset give him a natural eye for cybersecurity risk, so his recommendations are designed to make the business stronger, not just more modern.
